Dictyotus caenosus is a bug from the family of stink bugs (Pentatomidae). In English, the type of bug is also known as the Brown Shield Bug ("brown shield bug ").
features
The 7.2–11.5 mm long bugs have a matt medium brown color. The bugs have a prominent black spot on each of the basal corners of the scutellum .
distribution
The species was originally only distributed on the Australian continent. It is mainly represented in the east in the states of Queensland and New South Wales . The species was introduced in New Zealand and New Caledonia .
Way of life
The bugs feed polyphagously on various wild and cultivated plants. They are considered to be minor pests . To their host and feed crops include legumes such as soybean ( Glycine max ), the mung bean ( Vigna radiata ), which Bohnenvarietät navy bean ( Phaseolus vulgaris ) and azuki bean ( Vigna angularis ). The bugs can also be found on cotton , sunflower , wheat , corn , alfalfa and rapeseed ( Brassica rapa ).
