action

After five years, Bob Carey is released from prison after the death of Ringos' brother who molested his former fiancée Maria. When he returns to his homeland, he finds Maria married to the wealthy farmer Clifford. However, due to his wife's tumor disease, he is forced to take her to the more distant town of Laredo for necessary care. He sells all of his property and hires a few gunslingers to be safe on the trip; Bob Carey was among them. Soon after the start of the journey, you are exposed to the dangers of the desert, the forces of nature and the Indians. The internal relationship between the group members, which is shaped by psychological and emotional conditions, harbors additional explosives; Not only the presence of Mary's former lover and archenemy Clifford, but also the shady motives of the other companions - the former army scout Rogers, a friendly Chinese cook and a mestizo - break out into quarrels and violence. At the end of the trip, everyone has paid their price for their behavior and intentions; only the rancher and his wife reach town.

criticism

The lexicon of international film saw a "routine Western with some superfluous hardship". The Segnalazioni Cinematografiche also deny that the film has a European identity, because it only tries to imitate American models. The color photography was particularly praised; Direction and presentation are appropriate.

Remarks

Italian title is I sette del Texas . The scenes of Andrea Scotti , who is featured in the credits, were apparently cut from the final version of the film.

The budget for the film was unusually high for the time.
