Remarks

The polka was put together from motifs from the operetta Indigo and the 40 Robbers . This places it in a series of works (opus numbers 343 , 344 , 345 , 346 , 347 , 348 , 349 , and 350 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. Strauss used the following operetta melodies for this polka: the coda from ballet music; the duet And now quickly away from here ; the market choir , lots of wonderful things beckon and themes from the finale. The first performance took place in Vienna's Volksgarten under the direction of Eduard Strauss . At this concert, not only works by the Strauss brothers, but also creations by Richard Wagner and Giacomo Meyerbeer were played.

The playing time on the CD listed under itemization is 2 minutes and 27 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
