Indigo March

The Indigo March is a march by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 349). The work was performed for the first time on April 9, 1871 in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein .

Remarks

The march was put together based on motifs from the operetta Indigo and the 40 Robbers , which premiered in 1871 . He joins a series of works (opus numbers 343 , 344 , 345 , 346 , 347 , 348 , 350 and 351 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. Here, Strauss mainly used motifs from the first finale and the third act of the operetta. The world premiere was directed by Eduard Strauss .
