A thousand and one nights (waltz)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Thousand and One Nights is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 346). The work was composed in 1871 and premiered on March 12 of the same year under the direction of Eduard Strauss in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein.

Remarks

The composer has put together the work based on motifs from the operetta Indigo and the 40 Robbers . It thus joins a series of works (opus numbers 343 , 344 , 345 , 347 , 348 , 349 , 350 and 351 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. The playing time is about 8 to 9 minutes, depending on the musical understanding of the respective conductor.
