Die Echten ( original spelling DIE ECHTEN ) is an Austrian a cappella quartet that sings pop hits and original compositions with dialect texts. While the first records primarily featured cover versions of well-known pop hits with Viennese lyrics, the CD Im Radio also featured original compositions.

Band history

The real ones came into being in 2000 when the Mainstreet group split up . After Renate Reich separated from Die Echten at the beginning of 2005 in order to devote himself to his own projects, the group also included Stephan Gleixner, Alexander Wartha, Andy Woerz and Patricia Simpson.

In 2005 Die Echten were nominated twice for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award .

In 2006 the group went on tour with the piece Gretes Hits . In 2008, the program “Die Echten save the world” followed, which consists entirely of original compositions. In 2009 the program “Farewell Tour” came out.

Patricia Simpson and Andy Woerz left the group in 2009 . But Renate Reich came back. Franz Alexander Langer joined the ensemble as the new third man.

In November 2009, Die Echten contributed the song Your Voice for the WWF project " Earth Hour ". The song was specially composed by Die Echten and can be heard in the video with actor Frank Hoffmann . In addition, Die Echten also created a radio version of the song.

In October 2010, Die Echten brought out their new program "Change of scenery".

In February 2011 Renate Reich left the group for personal reasons. Since then Christine Kisielewsky has completed the formation. In the summer of that year, Die Echten could be seen with the program "Summa Hitz".

In 2011 Stephan Gleixner, Franz Alexander Langer, Christine Kisielewsky and Alexander Wartha celebrated the 11th anniversary of the group.

Just in time for Christmas 2011, Die Echte celebrated the premiere of their new Christmas program "Goose in White".

In February 2012 the premiere of the current program "Verhört" in Vienna's Orpheum was rewarded by the audience with standing ovations. In autumn, Stephan Gleixner, the band's founder, initiated a benefit concert with Rainhard Fendrich and Opus for the benefit of the victims of the flood disaster in Liezen, Austria, at which Die Echten also played as hosts. In 2013 they were seen with their program Verhört as part of the Hyundai Cabaret Days on ORF.

In autumn 2013 the new program "Hollywood" will appear.

In 2015 they were shown in the ORF format The Great Chance of Choirs and made it to the finals.

In the spring of 2016, Die Echten celebrated their 15th anniversary with their "Hardchor" anniversary program.

In 2017 Die Echten were the musical part of the comedy format "Cabaret Summit", which was broadcast in two parts in the main evening program of the ORF . The recordings for this took place in the Wiener Stadthalle .
