The Hanoverians

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"The Hanoverians" are an independent voter community founded in February 2011 in Hanover . The electoral community sees itself as value conservative . However, the Hanoverians move in the politically right-wing spectrum . The group is occasionally referred to as right-wing extremists.

history

The chairman Jens Böning sat from 2006 to 2011 as the individual representative of the voting community “We for Hanover” in the City Council of Hanover before he left this group in February 2011 and founded the Hanoverians. In October 2016 he resigned as chairman of the group, but remained leader of the "Hanoverians" in the city council and in the regional assembly. Jürgen Alenberg was his successor.

The founding members included people who were previously active in other parties and electoral communities, as well as people who had not been politically active before.

Positions

"The Hanoverians" warn of " Islamization " on election posters , for example by depicting the town hall in Hanover as a mosque with minarets and the caption "Don't let that happen!" The electorate has criticized the refugee policy of other parties. The financing of the refugee crisis will go hand in hand with massive cuts in health care and care for the elderly, claim "The Hanoverians" in an election flyer.

"The Hanoverians" speak out against euro rescue packages for "EU bankrupt states".

Participation in elections

In September 2011, “Die Hannoveraner” ran for the first time in local elections and achieved parliamentary groups in the City of Hanover (3.3 percent, 2 elected officials) and the regional assembly of the Hanover region (2.3 percent, 2 elected officials). In the Hanover district of Sahlkamp , the group won over 10 percent of the vote.

"The Hanoverians" did not run for the election of the city district councils. However, due to Michael Sylvester's change of party from the pirates to the “Hanoverians”, they have been represented in the Central District Council since February 2013.

For the local elections in Lower Saxony in 2016 , “The Hanoverians” nominated Kevin Schumann for the regional assembly, Jens Böning for the council and the regional assembly and Gerhard Wruck for the council. With racist election posters and the slogan “colorful instead of brown” they mobilized against Islam and “unlimited immigration”. They again achieved two mandates each in the regional assembly and in the city council of Hanover.

criticism

Critics accuse the electoral community of specifically looking for supporters in the right-wing extremist milieu. The voter community placed an ad on the anti-Islamic right - wing weblog Politically Incorrect and linked it to its own website. Members of the “Hanoverians” took part in right-wing or right-wing extremist demonstration groups such as Hogesa or Hagida .

"The Hanoverian" advertised in the local election campaign, among others, with the following statements: Imagine against the increasing " German hostility " and against a municipal voting rights for non-EU foreigners.

The party chairman Böning and city council member Gerhard Wruck were previously members of the Republicans . Wruck was already a member of the NPD . Böning described the Turkish-born SPD party chairman Alptekin Kirci in Hanover as an “oriental skilled worker”.

Controversy

In 2012, the party was referred to as the right-wing extremist party at the Hanover Volkshochschule exhibition "Strengthening Democracy - Fighting Right-Wing Extremism". "Hanoverian" boss Jens Böning described this as "agitation of a new dimension".
