The mature citizens

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mündigen Bürger (short form: Mündige Bürger ) was a party in the Federal Republic of Germany .

The party emerged from various initiatives in the environment of the medical journalist and esotericist Erika Herbst . With a right-wing conservative program and an organizational focus in Bavaria, she mainly addressed disappointed CSU voters. Their program consisted primarily of references to more or less well-known professors who had worked out solutions to certain social problems. These approaches were neither related to one another, nor questioned, so that the political demands of this group had a decidedly eclectic character. The founder, thought leader and chairwoman Erika Herbst was particularly committed to defending the apartheid system in South Africa. After a visit, she assessed it as "corresponding to the mentality of the blacks" and pushed through a television commercial for the 1987 federal election with this topic in her party.

The association was founded on August 30, 1975. For the European elections in 1984 , the community of responsible citizens entered the vote as another political association and achieved 52,753 votes (0.2%). The party ran for the 1987 federal election in 5 out of 10 federal states with its own lists and achieved a total of 24,830 votes (0.065%). In the European elections in 1989 , the party also ran and received 32,246 votes (0.1%). The mature citizens also drew up lists for the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 1985 (925 votes; 0.0%) and Hesse in 1987 (129 votes; 0.0%), but remained meaningless. In Bavaria there was temporary cooperation with the Freedom People's Party (FVP) , a split of the Republicans around Franz Handlos . A citizens' initiative called “Mündige Bürger” on the subject of “alternative cancer therapy” under the leadership of Erika Herbst still exists.
