history

The band was founded in 1996 in Kassel. Since then, she has been touring with a changing line-up . It had its greatest successes around 2000 and was considered musically formative for German-language music of the folk-rock genre . The band has had more than 500 appearances so far .

In 2007 the band announced that they would not pursue the project for the time being due to lack of time.

The filmmaker and guitarist Ralf Kemper , the violinist Kathrin Heiss , the drummer Tino Rakut and the bassist Rainer Zastrutzki reunited to mark the 20th anniversary of the founding of the band .

style

The band plays German-speaking folk punk and folk rock . In addition to their own compositions, Die Schnitter interpreted traditional German folk and resistance songs from the Peasant War , the Weavers 'Uprising and Vormärz and workers' songs .
