The Zillertaler Musikanten (ZIM) was an Austrian folk music group from Zell am Ziller in Tyrol .

Martin is the older brother of Michael "Mike" Kupfner. Both played in the 1990s with their friend Hansi Schweiberer in a trio under the name Gerlosstein Echo . After the group split up in 2000, they founded ZIM together with Josef Wechselberger, whose band Zillertal Express had also split up in 2000, and Herbert Kröll.

The band had performed in German-speaking countries and abroad since 2001 at the latest until it was dissolved.

In 2008 ZIM disbanded. In the eight years of existence, six albums were recorded. The quartet also made several contributions to folk music samplers . In addition to the Zillertaler Schürzenjäger , the Ursprung Buam , the young Zillertalers and the Zillertaler Haderlumpen, the group was one of the well-known musical representatives of their Zillertal homeland.

Martin Kupfner has been touring as a duo with Willi Pfister from the Zillertal Night Owls since 2009 , and since 2015 with his youngest brother Andreas Kupfner as a Duo Zillertaler Briada and also solo under the name ZiM Martin - the Zillertaler Musikant . Josef Wechselberger and Herbert Kröll play together with Stefan Schiestl as a trio Die drei Zillertaler (Z3).
