Diebitsch (noble family)
Diebitsch is the name of an old Silesian noble family .
history
The family first appeared in a document on November 22, 1311 with Johann von Dewisch . The family name had different spellings, such as Debycz, Debytsch and Dewitsch. The lineage begins with Heinrich von Diebtsch , who was born around 1400 and in 1435 was court master of Duke Ludwig II of Liegnitz .
On August 10, 1732, the Bohemian line was elevated to the Bohemian baron class. From the Diebitsch-Sabalkansky line, the Russian Major General Hans Ehrenfried von Diebitsch (* 1738, † 1822) was enrolled in the Courland Knighthood in 1801 . His son Johann von Diebitsch, Russian adjutant general, was accepted into the Estonian knighthood on January 12, 1826 , and on August 11, 1826 raised to the Russian count as von Diebitsch-Sabalkansky. On September 22nd, 1829, who had meanwhile been promoted to Russian field marshal, was also enrolled in the Livonian knighthood .
