Friedrich von Diebitsch

Friedrich Wilhelm First Johann Christoph Adolf von Diebitsch (born August 29, 1790 in Wesel , † May 1, 1872 in Northeim ) was a Hanoverian major general and commander of Northeim.

Life

Friedrich was a son of the Prussian captain Christian Gottlieb von Diebitsch (1852–1821) and his wife Wilhelmine, nee Freiin von Troschke (1865–1833).

Military career

Diebitsch went into Prussian service and was promoted to ensign on June 24, 1804 . On October 27, 1809 he moved to the 7th Line Battalion of the King's German Legion and advanced to lieutenant at the end of June 1811. He fought in Spain in 1810/11 and in northern Germany and the Netherlands in 1812/14. On March 1, 1816, he joined the 4th Infantry Regiment as a captain with a patent from March 27, 1815, from which the 4th Line Battalion of the Hanoverian Army was later formed. On February 13, 1838, Diebitsch retired as a major .

He was then transferred to Northeim as a commandant on February 10, 1841. There he rose to lieutenant colonel on August 12, 1842 and to colonel on December 16, 1851. On May 27, 1866, he was appointed major general and died on May 1, 1872 in Northeim. He was an honorary citizen of the cities of Northeim and Münden .

Diebitsch married Cäcilie Jokisch-Scheuereck (1801–1873) in Rudolstadt on July 27, 1819. The couple had several children:
