Diedrich Hobbie

Hinrich Anton Diedrich Hobbie (born February 1, 1897 in Süderschweiburg , † April 28, 1949 in Hassel ) was a German farmer and politician ( NSDAP ). From 1928 to 1933 he was a member of the Oldenburg State Parliament .

Life

Hobbie worked as a tenant and farmer in Hassel and Hollen near Wiefelstede . From 1920 he was a member of a council in the Oldenburger Land .

On March 1, 1928, he joined the NSDAP and the SA . Hobbie was a member of the Oldenburg Landtag from 1928 to 1933, where he was a long-term member of the administrative committee and from 1932 a member of the finance committee. During the co-ordination process , he was elected first vice-president of the state parliament in the only session of the last legislative period on May 25, 1933. From 1933 to 1935 he was the mayor of Wiefelstede. From 1933 he was regional chairman and head of department of the regional farmers 'association Oldenburg (renamed in 1937 to regional farmers' association Weser-Ems). On May 12, 1936 he was appointed SS-Sturmbannführer .

In November 1937 Hobbie was sentenced to one month imprisonment for assault while drunk after two road traffic trials; the sentence was lifted by amnesty on April 30, 1938. During the Second World War he was special agricultural leader in the Ukraine from September 1941 to February 1942 . In October 1944 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht again, deployed in Dresden in February 1945 and then on the Neisse. At the beginning of May 1945 he was taken prisoner near Eger .

Hobbie was subsequently housed in the Esterwegen internment camp until 1946 , and then in Westertimke and Sandbostel until his release in 1948 . In February 1948, the Stade Court of Appeal sentenced him to four months in prison in an arbitration chamber ; an appeal was rejected by the Supreme Court in Hamm. The denazification committee classified Hobbie in Category IV (“Follower”).

After his release from prison, he returned to Hassel and resumed his agricultural work there.

Diedrich Hobbie was married and had four children.
