Diego Benítez , full name Diego Fernando Benítez Quintana , (born January 23, 1988 in Rosario ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.83-meter-tall attacking player Benítez, who says his main goal is to play for Peñarol , started playing football at club level at Club Rosario Atlético at the age of four. His professional career began in 2008 at Plaza Colonia . He then played in the 2009/10 season both for the second team Dinamo Bucharest , in whose ranks he scored two league goals, as well as in three games (no goal) of the Clausura 2010 of the Primera División for Defensor Sporting . At least in 2010 he was then again on the Plaza Colonias squad in the Segunda División and completed 18 second division games (two goals) for the Southwest Uruguayans. In August 2011 he moved from Defensor to Ecuador to Técnico Universitario . There he contributed with five goals in 14 missions for promotion from Serie B to Serie A. In March 2012 he joined Universidad Católica . That year he played 36 times in Serie B for his new club, scored 13 times in the opposing goal and was promoted to Serie A again. In 2013 and 2014, he played 38 and 34 top division games and scored nine and three goals respectively. He was also used four times (no goal) in the Copa Sudamericana 2014 . In 2015 he was used eleven times (two goals) in Serie A. In July 2015 he moved to Deportivo Municipal . For the Peruvian first division club, he played in 17 league games and scored three goals. At the beginning of 2016 he continued his career at SD Aucas . With the Ecuadorians he completed 15 league games in Primera A and scored one goal. In the second half of July 2016, he joined the Cafetaleros de Tapachula . With the Mexicans he was used in seven league games and three Copa México matches . At the beginning of January 2017, the CSD Macará signed him . So far (as of March 4, 2017) he has completed five top division games (no goal) for the Ecuador-based club.

Tacuarembó FC is sometimes mentioned as another but undated career station . In addition, he is sometimes credited with belonging to Defensor Sporting before his time at Plaza Colonia.
