Diego Pérez , (nickname: El Ruso ), (born May 18, 1980 in Montevideo ; full name Diego Fernando Pérez Aguado ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

The midfielder came to AS Monaco in the summer of 2004 via the Uruguayan clubs Defensor Sporting Club (1999-2003) and Club Atlético Peñarol (2004) . In the 2006/07 season, Perez advanced to become one of the team's most important players with a sensational high from Matchday 26-29, when he scored twice and set up two goals. In the 2009/10 season he reached the final of the French Cup competition with Monaco. After the 2010 soccer World Cup, Pérez signed a four-year contract with the Italian Serie A club FC Bologna shortly before the end of the transfer period in August 2010 . The transfer fee paid at the time is said to have been 2.1 million euros. With the Bolognese he completed 78 first division games. He didn't score a goal. After the club and Pérez initially separated in June 2013, since Pérez did not renew his contract, he was temporarily without a club and trained individually. Because of this situation, national coach Tabárez did not call him for the international friendly against Japan in August 2013. On August 17, 2013, however, he signed a new two-year contract with his former employer. In the current 2013/14 season he played 27 more Serie A games and in 2014 took over the position of team captain for the first time in his career with the Italians. Since the Bolognese were relegated at the end of the season, he was only used three times (no goal) in Serie B in the 2014/15 season, also due to an injury-related break that lasted around six months until November 2014 . In July 2015 it was reported that he would most likely end his active career and take on the role of coach of Bologna's youth team.
