Diego Ruiz Asín (born June 25, 1977 in Jaca ) is a Spanish cross-country skier .

Career

Ruiz has been taking part in competitions organized by the Fédération Internationale de Ski since 1997 . Until 2004 he mainly competed in the Continental Cup. At the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano , he finished 87th over 10 km classic and 65th place in the 25 km pursuit race. He ran his first World Cup race in November 1998 in Muonio , which he finished with 89th place in the 10 km freestyle. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2003 in Val di Fiemme , he came 54th place in the 20 km double pursuit race and 38th place over 50 km freestyle. In January 2004 he got his first World Cup point in Val di Fiemme with 30th place in the 70 km mass start race. His best placement at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2005 in Oberstdorf was 17th in the 50 km mass start race. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Pragelato , he won 54th place in the 30 km pursuit race, 46th place over 15 km classic and 23rd place in the 50 km mass start race. In February 2007 he reached in Changchun with the 18th place over 15 km freestyle his best result in a world cup race. His best result at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2007 in Sapporo was 45th place in the skiathlon . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009 , he came 58th in the skiathlon and 33rd in the 50 km mass start race. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , he finished 65th in the 15km freestyle and 44th in the 50km mass start race. He took 54th place in the 50 km mass start race at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 2011 . In summer 2015 he took 20th place in the mountain run and 18th place in the 25 km mass start race at the 2015 Rollerski World Championships in Fiemme Valley.
