Diekmannshausen is a farming community in the Lower Saxony municipality of Jade in the Wesermarsch district . The village with around 290 inhabitants consists of a residential area with single-family houses and farms with adjacent pastures.

Location and infrastructure

Diekmannshausen is located on the southern tip of the Jade Bay . Nearby places are the city of Varel in the west and the village of Schweiburg in the east. Diekmannshausen is connected to both places via the federal highway 437 . The B 437 continues in the east to Rodenkirchen .

The Bäderstraße (K 197) in the direction of Butjadingen begins in Diekmannshausen .

Diekmannshausen was on the Varel - Rodenkirchen railway line . Passenger traffic on this route was discontinued in 1958, and in 1992 the remaining goods traffic to Varel.

history

Diekmannshausen as a place name was created in 1913 when the railway line between Varel and Rodenkirchen was established. Until the place was called Süder-Schweiburg. The name Diekmannshausen goes back to the local building materials trade, which still exists today, as well as numerous inhabitants of the place who are so called.
