This city is the first commercially successful music album by the Austrian band Mondscheiner .
background
After the release of the less successful album La belle captive , the band was signed to Sony BMG in 2006. The first single released was What We Are . It was published in the summer of the same year and only became successful around six months later. The CD came out in August.
music
The music project was funded by the Austrian Art Fund. The music should be assigned to the genre German rock , but the band insists on the name narrative pop . Guitar, bass and drums * can be heard particularly instrumentally.
The lyrics are very poetic and partly also philosophical, like the ones on the previous albums. They look like twelve short stories, with different themes, all of which take place in the city of Vienna . Due to the separation of the former drummer, the moderate success of the first release and the appearance of the Mitten-im-8en -Signation Mittendrin , the band decided to release the album again with two bonus tracks.
* Heimo Korak, the drummer, left the band in 2006 and was replaced by July Skone.
Decoupling
What we are
The single Das what wir sind was released as the first release of the album and presented on Ö3 in July 2006 . The single was repeatedly on the airplay, even if only rarely and it took almost six months until the single was able to place in the Ö3 Austria Top 40 and reached 10th place as the highest position. The text looks like it is trying to build a person's self-confidence. The original video shows the band as students and soccer fans in class and then playing soccer. In the new edition you can see moonlight in front of a white background, which is covered with words like / is / my / life .

In the middle is the second release of the album or a non-album track, which can only be found on the new edition. The song was recorded for the daily soap "Mitten im 8en", but was commercially among the successes of "Das Was wir sind" and only reached number 46 in the Austrian charts.
This day
This day is the third release of the album. A release date is not yet known, but the song is currently in the charts of gotv (# 2), iTunes and Ö3. After the failure of the second single, the decision was quickly made to present the next one and it has been played on Austrian radio stations since May 2007. In the video you can see several similar-looking excerpts of Vienna lined up, which results in a flip-book- like video.
Penelope
At the beginning of March 2008, Mondscheiner announced “Penelope” as the fourth release from the album.
