Focus of work and initiatives

Koch's specific commitment relates primarily to the fundamental right to mobility for everyone - with a focus on safety - as well as to the special concerns of the younger and older people and those who live with a disability.

In the Disability Intergroup of the European Parliament, he advocates the consideration of the rights of people with disabilities and their needs in the legislative process. Improving traffic safety on European roads and reducing the number of accident victims are other important goals that Koch wants to achieve with his work.

One technology that Koch is particularly promoting is eCall , the life-saving electronic emergency call. This system automatically sends an emergency call to the operations center immediately after a serious vehicle accident. The eCall system represents a sleeping system (data protection), which is mandatory to be installed in every automobile but only "wakes up" in the event of a serious accident and sends a minimal data record for localization. Koch was the initiator of the DocStop project , an initiative for on-the-go medical care for professional drivers in Europe. He was chairman of the association for over five years.

Further topics are the stipulation of extended passenger rights, the reduction of the maximum permitted flight and flight standby times and the introduction of the EU-wide emergency number 112.
