VdM diesel ring

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The golden VdM diesel ring has been awarded annually since 1955 by the Association of Motor Journalists (VdM) to people who have made special contributions to "increasing road safety and reducing the consequences of accidents". The ring is awarded for one year and must then be returned. The previous owner receives a no less valuable copy for this.

The award was given the name Dieselring because the goldsmith worked a metal splinter from an original screw from Rudolf Diesel's first test engine into the plate of the golden ring to be awarded. On June 21, 1954, a part of this screw was removed from the first test diesel engine in the MAN factory museum in Augsburg.
