Dieter Brosius

Dieter Brosius (born November 20, 1936 in Visselhövede ) is a German archivist , historian and author .

Life

After studying history and German in Hamburg , Tübingen and Göttingen between 1957 and 1964, Brosius received his doctorate and joined the archives service of the state of Lower Saxony . After attending the Marburg archive school , he worked at the Bückeburg State Archives from 1965 and at the Hanover Main State Archives from 1969 . From 1971 to 1974 Brosius was seconded to the German Historical Institute in Rome , after which he returned to Hanover. From 1989 to 2001 he headed the main state archive. In addition, he was chairman of the historical association for Lower Saxony (1985 to 2000) and the general association of German history and antiquity associations .

He is the author of numerous publications, especially on the history of Lower Saxony, and sits on the advisory board of the Historical Association for Lower Saxony. In 1980, Brosius was elected a corresponding member of the Historical Commission for Westphalia .
