Dieter Brucklacher

Dieter Brucklacher (born June 12, 1939 in Oberkochen ; † September 27, 2016 ) was the longstanding managing director and chairman of the management team at Leitz GmbH & Co. KG in Oberkochen. Furthermore, he was President of the Association of German Mechanical and Plant Engineering and holder of the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany , Vice President of the Federal Association of German Industry and an honorary citizen of the city of Oberkochen.

Private

Dieter Brucklacher was born in Oberkochen in 1939. He studied physics at the Universities of Karlsruhe and Stuttgart . During this time he joined the local fraternity of Hilaritas . After completing his studies, he worked from 1966 to 1974 as a research assistant at the Institute for Materials and Solid State Research of the Gesellschaft für Kernforschung mbH in Karlsruhe. In addition to his work at Leitz, he obtained his doctorate in engineering from the University of Karlsruhe in 1978 at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Dieter Brucklacher died on September 27, 2016.

Working life at Leitz

In 1974 he joined his wife Monika Brucklacher in the family business Leitz Oberkochen. In 1975 he became managing director. From 1982 to 2014 he was Chairman of the Management Board, after which he moved to the company's advisory board.   • In 1994 he became a board member of the Association of German Machine and Plant Builders, VDMA. He then became President of the VDMA in 2004. He held this office until 2007. From 2008 to 2014 he was chairman of the VDMA's Impulse Foundation Board of Trustees.
  • From 1998: Member of the board of the Baden-Württemberg Industry Association.
  • 2007–2008: Vice-President of the Federal Association of German Industry and the Federal Association of German Employers' Associations, as well as Vice-President of the IHK Ostwuerttemberg.
  • Member of the Board of Trustees of Aalen University and the International Music School Academy, Kulturzentrum Schloss Kapfenburg.
