Dieter Döhla
Dieter Döhla (born March 28, 1944 in Stammbach , Upper Franconia ) is a German lawyer , politician ( SPD ) and former Lord Mayor of Hof (1988 to 2006).
Life
After graduating from secondary school in Münchberg, Dieter Döhla studied law at the universities of Munich and Würzburg from 1963 to 1968 . He also spent the subsequent legal traineeship in Würzburg. In 1971 he married his wife Margit, née Schlereth, there. Dieter Döhla passed the 2nd state examination in 1972. From 1973 to 1984 he worked as a judge and public prosecutor at the district court, the regional court and in the public prosecutor's office in Hof.
In 1984 the city council, to which he had been a member since 1978, elected him full-time second mayor of the city of Hof. Four years later, in March 1988, the SPD politician made it to the top of the city. Dieter Döhla was elected Lord Mayor to succeed Hans Heun. He remained in office for three full terms - until his voluntary resignation in 2006.
Today Dieter Döhla works as a lawyer and honorary chairman of the board of the Hof Community Foundation.
His daughter Eva Döhla was elected Lord Mayor of Hof in 2020.
politics
During his term of office, the German-German border opened, which placed Hof in a central position. This brought new challenges, in particular strengthening Hof as a regional center. Other highlights were the State Garden Show in 1994, the new building of the theater and the construction and expansion of the Hof University of Applied Sciences. Milestones in the strategic and economic development of the city of Hof are the founding of the Euregio Egrensis in 1992, the merger to form the Kreis- und Stadtsparkasse Hof in 1994, the founding of the Hochfranken Board of Trustees in 1997, the Association of Automotive Supplier Park Hochfranken in 2002 and the accession to the European Metropolitan Region of Nuremberg in 2003 Finally, with the town twinning between Eger and Hof, a new connection to the eastern neighboring country of the Czech Republic was created.
