Dieter Dölling

Dieter Dölling (born October 28, 1952 in Braunschweig ) is a German legal scholar and criminologist . He is director of the Institute of Criminology at the Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg with a focus on juvenile crime and juvenile justice , crime prevention , crime against the general, empirical sanctions and criminal research.

Career

Dieter Dölling studied 1971-1975 jurisprudence at the Universities of Bielefeld and Göttingen . After the two state examinations in law (1975, 1980) and after doctorate (1978) and habilitation (1984) in Göttingen, Dölling was initially professor of criminal law and criminology at the universities of Göttingen (1985-87) and Erlangen-Nuremberg (1987-90) as well part-time judge at a large criminal chamber of the Nuremberg-Fürth regional court (1988–90) before becoming director of the Institute for Criminology at Heidelberg University in 1990.

On March 24, 2014 it was announced that Dölling is a member of the interdisciplinary research consortium to investigate the sexual abuse of minors within the Catholic Church ( MHG study ). He was also a member of the expert group on homicides reform convened by the Federal Ministry of Justice on May 20, 2014 .

Dieter Dölling is a. a. Chairman of the Advisory Board at the Max Planck Institute for Research into Crime, Security and Law , Chairman of the Baden-Württemberg State Group of the DVJJ , member of the Advisory Board of the victim protection organization Weisser Ring , assessor on the board of the association "Safe Heidelberg", member of the board of trustees of the Germans Head office for addiction issues and the Scientific Advisory Board of the Criminological Research Institute Lower Saxony as well as member of the board of the Interdisciplinary Forum for Biomedicine and Cultural Studies at the University of Heidelberg. From 2010 to 2011 he was also President of the Criminological Society .
