Dieter Feller

Dieter Feller (born December 1, 1942 ) is a former German soccer player . He played in the position of goalkeeper and has played a total of 27 league games for the Preußen Münster and VfB Stuttgart clubs in the Bundesliga .

career

After Feller - his home club was BV Dorsten - rose to the then third-class Westfalenliga in 1963 with BV Holsterhausen , he moved to Preußen Münster in the newly founded Bundesliga . As a substitute for goalkeeper Herbert Eiteljörge , Feller made four appearances in the first Bundesliga season . On the eleventh match day, November 16, 1963, in a 1-1 draw away at 1. FC Saarbrücken, he made his debut in the Bundesliga. The Prussian defense was carried out by Heribert Kania , Heinz-Rüdiger Voss , Dagmar Drewes , Klaus Bockisch and Werner Lungwitzcompleted. Feller rose with the team of coach Richard Schneider as penultimate in the Regionalliga West . Despite the new team-mates Klaus Ackermann , Erwin Kostedde , Werner Anzill and Günter Augustat , Münster failed to return to the Bundesliga. After 67 appearances in the Regionalliga West, the "black giant" moved in 1967 from the Eagle Bearers to VfB Stuttgart in southern Germany .

Under coach Gunther Baumann , veteran Günter Sawitzki held the position in the VfB goal in 1967/68 and the former youth goalkeeper Gerhard Heinze prevailed in 1968/69 . Feller struggled with a herniated disc in this round and had to endure a break from competition of eight months. But even in his third year in Stuttgart he was unable to assert himself as a regular goalkeeper, he made eleven Bundesliga games in 1969/70. In November 1969, however, he had received first-class reviews in the two encounters in the trade fair cup against SSC Napoli. The 1.90 m tall goalkeeper completed his 27th and last Bundesliga game on March 14, 1970 in the 3-0 away defeat at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. After 23 Bundesliga appearances for the Swabians, Feller moved to Austria in 1970, he joined FK Austria Vienna .

In his first season with the Viennese, 1970/71, Feller won the ÖFB Cup with a 2-1 win after extra time against local rivals Rapid Vienna . In the second season it was enough with the "Violettes" one point behind master Wacker Innsbruck to the runner-up. With Austria he took part in the 1970/71 games against Levski-Spartak Sofia and Atletico Madrid with fellow players Robert Sara , Wilhelm Huberts , Josef Hickersberger and Alfred Riedl in the competition of the European Champions Cup. In the second year, 1971/72, the European Cup Winners' Cup played against B 1909 Odense, Dinamo Tirana and AC Turin. After his time in Vienna he returned to Germany and joined the Bonner SC and ended his career in the amateur camp.
