Dieter Finzel (born October 26, 1940 in Gemünden (Hunsrück)October 15, 2019 ) was a German lawyer in Hamm . He was President of the Bar Association for the area of ​​the OLG Hamm .

After graduating from the Herzog-Johann-Gymnasium in the district town of Simmern in 1960 and the subsequent (voluntary two-year) military service , which he completed with the promotion to lieutenant of the reserve , Finzel studied from 1962 at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen and the University of Saarland Jurisprudence . He completed his studies after eight semesters with the state examination (December 1966) and the doctorate (Saarbrücken 1970). He used the time up to the beginning of the then three-year legal preparatory service in North Rhine-Westphalia at the LG Münster for almost a year as a research assistant in Saarbrücken. He was also able to prepare his dissertation on the execution of sentences and the execution of sentences, an investigation into delimitation, legal nature and systematic status , which he then completed in addition to his practical training. After completing his second exam and being admitted to the bar in 1971, he initially worked in the district of the Ahaus District Court and the Münster District Court, and a year later he was admitted to the Hamm Higher Regional Court . From 1981 to 2010 he was also appointed as a notary. He has been a member of the board of the Hamm Bar Association since 1987, from 1992 to 1996 as Vice President, then as President until 2012, and since then as Honorary President.

From 2006 to 2012 he was a member of the “Federal Lawyers' Act” committee of the Federal Bar Association .

In 2001 he was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his special voluntary work there and in the community . At the federal level, he was particularly committed to issues and new regulations in professional law . In 2010 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class. The order was presented to him by the then North Rhine-Westphalian Minister of Justice, Roswitha Müller-Piepenkötter .

Dieter Finzel was married. His two sons are also lawyers.
