Dieter Forster

Dieter Forster (born June 10, 1942 in Königshütte ) is a former German table tennis player . He became German champion in doubles in 1964.

National

Forster began his career at the Germania West district class club (near Remscheid). In 1958 he first moved to Germania 04 Düsseldorf, and a year later to TuSA Düsseldorf where he played with the 2nd team in the West League. A little later he moved up to the 1st team, which was one of the leading teams in the Oberliga , the top German division at the time. In 1960 he won the West German Grand Prix ahead of Eberhard Schöler .

With TuSA Düsseldorf he was five times German champion and three times German cup winner between 1961 and 1966. At the national German championships he was successful several times in doubles with Eberhard Schöler . They reached the final in 1962, 1965 and 1966, and in 1964 they became German champions. In 1961 he won the with the West German Table Tennis Association WTTV Germany Cup . In 1962 he was ranked fourth in the DTTB rankings.

In 1972 he joined TTG Altena-Nachrodt and became German team champion here in 1972/73. In 1974 he moved to TGH Wetter and then to TuS Neuenrade.

International

At the 1961 international championships in France, Forster won the doubles title with Horst Terbeck .

In 1962 he played three international matches during the European Championship . He remained undefeated in the six matches and thus contributed significantly to third place in the German team. In doubles he reached the semi-finals with Eberhard Schöler .

Private

In 1964 Forster married Karin Faßbender, whose family was known in table tennis circles in the Düsseldorf area. The first child was born in November 1965.
