Dieter Frettlöh

Dieter Frettlöh (born December 22, 1924 in Herchen ; † November 2, 2004 in Wenningstedt , Sylt ) was a German pastor and author.

Life

Dieter Frettlöh was drafted into military service after graduating from the Otto Kühne School in Godesberg . After the Second World War he studied Protestant theology in Wuppertal, Bonn and Basel. He passed his first theological exam in April 1951 in Berlin. Afterwards Frettlöh was vicar in Köpenick and Burgsolms; This was followed by a special vicariate in prison pastoral care in the correctional facilities in Lüttringhausen and Wuppertal. He passed the second theological exam in 1954 in Düsseldorf. In 1955 he was a youth and vocational school pastor in Langenberg. Then Frettlöh was parish priest in Bockenau before he became pastor of the Siegburg correctional facility in 1959. In 1970 he moved to Mannheim as a prison chaplain . From 1976 to 1977 he was pastor of the Wichernkirche in Kirchheim .

Frettlöh began to write new texts to old hymn melodies, he is the lyricist of Christian poetry , many new sacred songs and was a member of the ecumenical lyricists and composers group of the Werkgemeinschaft Musik e. V. and the AG Music in the Evangelical Youth e. V., today the lyricists and composers group TAKT .
