Dieter Goetze

Dieter Goetze (born October 29, 1942 in Barcelona ; died August 27, 2014 in Regensburg ) was a German sociologist . Most recently he was professor emeritus at the University of Regensburg .

Goetze studied sociology, ethnology and political science at the University of Heidelberg , where he received his doctorate in 1969 and was a lecturer . From 1970 to 1975 he was a research assistant at the University of Augsburg , where he completed his habilitation in 1975 . In 1975 he became professor of sociology at the University of Regensburg. He was retired in the 2007 winter semester.

His work focused sociological theory, development sociology , political sociology , cultural sociology , educational sociology , rural sociology , social inequality and sociology of gender relations. The regional focus of his research was in Latin America and Spain .
