biography
Dieter Harig played 15 years for Borussia Neunkirchen in regional and upper leagues . The midfielder, mostly used as an outside runner and half-striker, celebrated the runner-up with the black and white vom Ellenfeld in the Oberliga Südwest in 1959, 1960, 1961 and 1963. In 1959 Harig was in the successful cup appearances first in the southwest - final victory on September 27, 1959 with 1-0 goals against 1. FC Saarbrücken - and then in the DFB Cup . In the semifinals, Neunkirchen won 2-1 goals against VfR Mannheim at home in Ellenfeld and was thus in the German cup final.
On December 27, 1959, however, Schwarz-Weiß Essen prevailed in Kassel with top performers Heinz Steinmann , Horst Trimhold , Hans Küppers , Theo Klöckner and Manfred Rummel with 5-2 goals. When Borussia won the championship in 1962, he only made two appearances due to injury. Dieter Harig played a total of 213 league games and scored 25 goals for Borussia Neunkirchen. From 1959 to 1963 there were 10 final round games for the German championship. When Neunkirchen won the championship in the Regionalliga Südwest in the 1963/64 season, he played 16 games and scored four goals. His last round was the 1-1 draw on March 8, 1964 at SV Völklingen.
When his teammates succeeded in the first Bundesliga promotion round in 1964 against the high favorites FC Bayern Munich , he could not play an active part. He was active in the German Bundesliga in the 1964/65 season. He came to 18 missions, but provided three templates. His active playing career ended with a home game against Werder Bremen on March 6, 1965 - 23rd match day of the 1964/65 season - when he broke his jaw twice . The game against Bremen ended 1: 1 and the storm formation of the home team was: Elmar May , Paul Pidancet , Günter Heiden , Harig, Günter Kuntz . Until 1966 he then assisted the then coach Horst Buhtz .
He then trained SC Friedrichsthal for 9 years , which he brought to the Saarland champions twice during this time. After winning the first Saarland Cup in the 1974/75 season, he ended his coaching career.
Dieter Harig was a trained construction technician .
