Dieter Hendel

Dieter Hendel (born October 11, 1934 in Dresden ) is a German engineer, manager and former plant manager of the BMW plant in Regensburg .

Life

Dieter Hendel began after his studies in 1961 his career in Munich at BMW as assistant to the production manager Carl Hurth. In 1963 he became an assistant in the management and from 1965 he held several management positions at BMW.

In 1985 he became technical plant manager at the newly opened BMW plant in Regensburg. At this point in time, Bernd Kalthegener, whom Herbert Quandt brought to BMW, took over the commercial plant management . Kalthegener was replaced by Joachim Raff in 1988. After plant management was limited to one person in 1992, Hendel was the sole plant manager. In 1994 he handed over the management to Ernst Baumann.

During his activity as head of the Regensburg BMW plant, he was significantly involved in the preparations for the establishment of the RegLog® city logistics project in Regensburg , which was initiated in 1998 by the BMW Group and the Regensburg Chamber of Commerce . The project was awarded the Bavarian Environment Prize in 2008 by State Secretary for Finance Franz Josef Pschierer on behalf of the Bavarian Prime Minister Horst Seehofer . Hendel represented BMW at the award ceremony in the Bavarian State Chancellery .
