Dieter Janik

Dieter Janik (born July 31, 1939 in Neudek ) is a German Romance studies and professor emeritus for Romance studies in Mainz.

Life

Janik was born in the Reichsgau Sudetenland . From 1958 to 1966 he studied Romance Philology (French, Spanish), Latin Studies and Philosophy at the Universities of Tübingen, Vienna and Freiburg in the years. In 1966 he became Dr. phil. PhD at the University of Tübingen . He then worked until 1974 as a research assistant at the chair for comparative literature with Kurt Wais in Tübingen. From 1968 to 1970 he interrupted his work to teach as a profesor adjunto de alemán at the University of Concepción / Chile . In 1974 he completed his habilitation in Romance Philology at the University of Tübingen. In the 1975/76 winter semester he was appointed full professor for Romance Philology at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . He worked in this position until his retirement at the end of the winter semester 2007/2008.

His main areas of work are Hispanic American Studies , Hispanic Studies , French Literary Studies, and Literary Theory .
