Dieter Langosch (born January 31, 1958 in Mörnsheim , Bavaria ) is a German biochemist and professor at the Technical University of Munich.

Life

Dieter Langosch attended the Isny Science and Technology Academy from 1974 to 1976 and worked as a chemical-technical assistant at the Helmholtz Center in Munich from 1976 to 1979 . From 1980 to 1986 he studied chemistry at Aalen University and from 1984 to 1986 biochemistry at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge , USA.

In 1989 he was for a work at the structure / function relationships of the post-synaptic glycine - receptor as a pupil of Heinrich Betz at the University of Heidelberg doctorate . After further research at the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research in Frankfurt , he completed his habilitation in biochemistry at the University of Frankfurt in 1995 . Between 1995 and 2001 he worked as a private lecturer at the University of Heidelberg.

In 2001 he accepted a position as professor for the chemistry of biopolymers at the Technical University of Munich . A visiting professorship took him to the University of California, Irvine , USA in 2007/2008 .

Langosch works in the field of membrane proteins . Using a combination of experimental and theoretical methods, he investigates the relationship between the amino acid sequence of membrane-integral protein domains and their molecular interactions and their structural dynamics. He works on these biophysical properties in the context of various biological issues such as intramembrane proteolysis and membrane fusion . Langosch published about 100 papers.
