Dieter Pfeifer

Dieter Pfeifer (born July 12, 1946 in Bamberg ; † June 6, 2011 ) was a German basketball player .

Life

Pfeifer, who was also known by the nickname "Beppo", played in the team of FC Bamberg , which was promoted to the basketball league in 1970 . There he was part of the squad until 1975. He also gained experience in the European Cup with Bamberg. Pfeifer worked as a secondary school teacher and as a sports reporter at Radio Bamberg , where he commented on games of the Bamberg basketball team. He also got involved in the work of the Bamberg Basketball Association as a board member.

From 1984 to 2001 he was a member of the Bamberg district council. From May 2006 until his death in 2011 he was a member of the Bamberg city council for the SPD . He was parliamentary group spokesman for the Senate for Urban Development, Transport and Climate Protection.

Pfeifer was married and the father of four children.
