Dieter Praxl (born December 12, 1935 - October 27, 2002 ) was a German football player .

career

VfB Stuttgart, 1946 to 1960

At the age of 11, Praxl joined the youth team at VfB Stuttgart . In the 1956/57 round, the striker made the leap from the amateur team to the VfB contract team. The technically excellent left winger celebrated his debut in the soccer Oberliga Süd in the away game on September 23, 1956 at Schwaben Augsburg . In his first league round he played 24 games and scored nine goals. In his second season, 1957/58, Praxl was a member of VfB's regular line-up with 23 appearances and six goals. As a result, he also belonged to the left wing of the winning team in the South German Cup on June 25, 1958 in Mannheim against 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 , which the Swabians won with 2-1 goals. On November 16, 1958 , Praxl won the DFB Cup with VfB when he scored the first goal of the game in a 4: 3 win after extra time against Fortuna Düsseldorf, leading to a 1-0 lead. The attack of the cup winner consisted of Erwin Waldner , Rolf Geiger , Lothar Weise , Rolf Blessing and Dieter Praxl. In addition to the cup success, Praxl also played in the South German selection at the representative game on April 12, 1959 in Hanover against North Germany. After 77 league games with 20 goals, Praxl moved to Kickers Offenbach in 1960 .

Further stations until 1964

On the Bieberer Berg , he was able to prove his skills in only 20 games with seven goals in two rounds and therefore signed for the last round of the Football Oberliga Süd, 1962/63, with TSG Ulm 1846 . With the "Spatzen" he finished eighth and played in 20 other games where he scored four goals for the team of goalkeeper Wolfgang Fahrian , alongside fellow strikers Manfred Ruoff and Helmut Siebert . In total, Dieter Praxl made 117 league games from 1956 to 1963 and scored 31 goals.

After his debut round in the Football Regionalliga Süd in 1963/64, where he again scored six goals for Ulm in 20 league games, he ended his high-class playing career in 1964.
