Dieter Schanz

Dieter Schanz (* 9. December 1937 in Danzig , Free City of Danzig ) is a German politician of the SPD and former member of parliament .

Life

Schanz was born on December 9, 1937 in Danzig (Free City of Danzig). He did an apprenticeship as a baker and pastry chef . Schanz later took his second education and became a social worker . He is Protestant and has two children.

Political career

In June 1961, Schanz joined the SPD. From 1973 to 1977 he was chairman of the local association , from 1976 to 1978 a member of the subdistrict board and from 1978 subdistrict chairman of the Oberhausen SPD. Schanz is a member of the Public Services, Transport and Traffic Union (ÖTV), Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO), Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB), Aktion Friedensdorf e. V. Oberhausen as well as the Marie-Schlei-Verein .

MP

From 1983 to 1998 he moved into the Bundestag for four legislative terms with a direct mandate in the constituency of Oberhausen . In 1987 Schanz got 59.1%, in 1990 55.5% and in the 1994 federal election 59.3% of the vote.
