Dieter "Schere" Scherbarth (born November 9, 1939 in Bad Polzin ) is a former German football player and later coach .
Career
In 1951 Dieter Scherbarth played for the first time in the team at his high school. Two years later he joined SG Motor Gohlis-Nord . Another year later, the then fifteen-year-old moved to SC Lok Leipzig, with whom he won the German junior championship in 1957. In the same season, the stopper played for the club's first division team for the first time. In 1958 he was no longer used as a defender by his coach Alfred Kunze . In his second league game in his new role as a center forward against Babelsberg, he managed a hat trick . In the cup final of the same year against SC Einheit Dresden , he scored the opening goal, which was not enough to win. Scherbarth did not achieve this success until 1966 with BSG Chemie Leipzig, with which he had become German football champion of the GDR two years earlier. In the championship season, "Schere", as he was called by his teammates, missed none of the 28 competitive games including the two cup games and scored eight goals like his striker colleague Wolfgang Behla . The first two get Dieter Scherbarth in the first championship game against BSG Wismut Aue to the 2-0 victory for Leipzig. The striker scored the second brace in the game against local rivals SC Leipzig , which ended 3-0.
After BSG Chemie was relegated from the league in the 1973/74 season , the native Bad Polziner helped to regain promotion and then played for another year in the reserve. After over 600 games for the Leutzscher, he left the club and became a player-coach in Rackwitz. Further coaching stations were Engelsdorf Lippendorf and TuB Leipzig , then Scherbarth ended his football career with the old men in Markkleeberg in the south of Leipzig.
