Dieter Strozniak (born January 14, 1955 in Halle (Saale) ) is a former German football player who was mainly active for Halleschen FC . From 2001 to 2017 he was a long-time team manager at the HFC.

Career

player

Strozniak moved to Halleschen FC in 1968, to which he belonged until 1985. The defensive player was part of the regular formation of the HFC for many years, for which he played a total of 330 league games and scored 25 goals (including 245 appearances and 18 goals in the league ). After the HFC had missed the direct re-promotion as the previous year, Strozniak moved to the 1985/86 season within the second-rate GDR league to competitor BSG Chemie Buna Schkopau . After only one season he ended his career as an active footballer there.

In the summer of 1994 Strozniak returned as a player for a short time at the age of almost 40: Because of staff problems, he was persuaded to play the HFC cup game against the first division club Bayer Uerdingen .

At the international level, Strozniak played six international matches for the GDR national soccer team between 1980 and 1982 , with which, however, he could not qualify for the World Cup in Spain .

Trainer / official

Strozniak was a member of the HFC's supervisory staff for many years, primarily in the role of team manager, but occasionally also in a senior coaching position: in April 2002, after Reinhard Häfner's dismissal, he took over the coaching position for the remaining league games. Another brief interlude as a coach was for two games in March 2003 as the successor to Dirk Mankowski . Under Sven Köhler , he was assistant coach for several years from the 2007/08 season.
