Diethardt Roth
Diethardt Roth (born July 24, 1941 in Leslau an der Weichsel) is a bishop emeritus of the Independent Evangelical Lutheran Church . He was a bishop from 1996 to 2006.
Life
After attending school and studying Protestant theology in Oberursel, Heidelberg and Göttingen, he did his doctorate with Martin Doerne in the field of practical theology at the Georg-August University of Göttingen on Ludwig Ihmels as a preacher.
During his studies in Heidelberg, Roth joined the Heidelberg Wingolf in 1962 . On March 1, 1970, he was ordained to serve in the parish. From 1969 to 1996 he served as vicar, parish vicar and pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Christ Congregation in Melsungen (Hesse).
Since 1985 he has been superintendent of the parish of Hesse-North and from 1991 to 1996 provost of the Sprengels Süd of the independent Evangelical Lutheran Church. He also worked for seven years in the Theological Commission, eight years in the Synodal Commission for Law and Constitution and six years as chairman of the trumpet work in the southern district of the SELK. A special focus was the diakonia at home and abroad, with chairmanship in the diaconal institution Gertrudenstift Baunatal (Hessen) and membership in the board of trustees of the Naëmi-Wilke-Stift in Guben .
In his retirement, Roth was the first chairman of the Humanitarian Aid Association for Eastern Europe eV for many years. He taught at the upper secondary school in Melsungen and is still a lecturer in canon law at the Lutheran Theological University in Oberursel . In 2018/19 he was a member of the board of directors of the Evangelical Lutheran Gertrudenstift eV in Baunatal-Großenritte.
Roth has been married since 1970 and has three grown daughters.

- 1991 Letter of Honor from the State of Hesse
- 2009 Martin medal of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck for his religious instruction in Melsungen, from which 40 pastors of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck emerged.
- 2013 Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany for his work in the Diakonie
