Diether Renatus Gebert (born May 9, 1940 in Hamburg ; † November 21, 2018 in Berlin ) was a German scientist and university professor of psychology and business administration .

Career

Diether Gebert studied psychology , philosophy and business administration ( diploma ) in Kiel and Munich . He completed his doctorate and habilitation in psychology in Munich with Arthur Mayer at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

From 1980 to 1991 Gebert held a chair for business administration at the Faculty of Law and Economics at the University of Bayreuth , with a focus on human resources and leadership . In 1991 he switched to the Technical University of Berlin with this combination of subjects . There he was a member of the academic senate from 1995 to 1999 and dean from 1999 to 2001.

After his retirement, Gebert taught almost continuously at Asian universities until his death , in particular and most recently at Tongji University in Shanghai in China . Since then he has published most of his numerous publications in English.

  • 2008–2009: Visiting Professor at the Indian Institute of Management , Kozhikode, India
  • 2009–2010: Visiting Professor of Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management at the Korea University Business School, Seoul
  • 2010–2011: visiting professor at Sogang University Business School, Seoul, Korea
  • 2011–2013: Visiting Professor (“Special Invited Expert”) at Renmin University of China Business School, Beijing, China
  • 2013–2018: Professor at Tongji University Business School, Shanghai, China

research

In research, Gebert u. a. on questions of leadership and cooperation with a view to the motivation and innovation of teams, on the opportunities and risks of team diversity, on theories and methods of organizational change as well as on the management of organizational dilemmas. Gebert carried out empirical research not only in Germany, but also in Romania , Poland , Russia , Nigeria , India and China .
