Dietmar Bendix

Dietmar Bendix (born September 12, 1951 ) is a German basketball official .

Life

Bendix played handball as a teenager in Jena , in 1968 he switched to basketball and played for the A-youth of SC Motor Jena . A year later, the basketball department was dissolved in the wake of the end of state funding for the sport, Bendix turned to athletics , threw javelins , but soon returned to basketball and from then on played at USV Jena . After the end of his playing career, he remained loyal to the club as a functionary, in 1988 he moved with the USV basketball players to the Carl Zeiss Süd club, and after the fall of the Wall, Bendix's basketball department belonged to TuS Jena from 1993 onwards . He worked as a manager even after the professional team was outsourced to an operating company in 2005 and later renamed Science City Jena . In 2011, Bendix became the authorized signatory of the operating company Baskets Jena GmbH and also referee supervisor. In addition, he took over the office of chairman of Science City Jena eV During his tenure as Jena basketball official, he was promoted to the second division in 2001 and promoted to the basketball league in 2007 and 2016.

At the state level, Bendix was chairman of the Thuringian Basketball Association (TBV) until 2009 , after which he became honorary president. In 2014 he took over the office of TBV chairman again and was confirmed in this position in May 2017. In October 2018 he announced that he would retire after 19 years of service for the association and resign from his presidency.

After graduating from high school, after completing an apprenticeship as an electronics precision mechanic and studying device construction, Bendix started working as an engineer at the Zeiss works . From 1995 he worked for the Sharp Group as sales manager, and in autumn 2011 he retired.
