Dietmar Brockes (born December 18, 1970 in Nettetal ) is a German politician ( FDP ). In the 17th legislative period of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia he is chairman of the committee for Europe and international affairs and spokesman for industry and energy of the FDP parliamentary group.

education and profession

Dietmar Brockes attended the Catholic primary school in Bracht (Brüggen) and the episcopal Albertus Magnus grammar school in Viersen-Dülken . After graduating from high school in 1991, Brockes trained as a wholesale office clerk at the computer manufacturer Nokia Data . Then he worked in materials management for a year .

According to his own account, Brockes studied business administration at Fonty's Hogeschool in Venlo, the Netherlands, from 1994 to 1998 . From 1996 to 2002 he was self-employed with a software shipping and internet service company. Since 2000 he has been a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia for the FDP .

Political career

Dietmar Brockes has been an expert citizen for the FDP parliamentary group in the Bruges Council since 1990 . As a knowledgeable citizen, he had been active in the Viersen district council since 1994 , and was a full member of the district council from 2004 to 2014. From 1994 to 1997 Brockes was chairman of the Young Liberals in the Viersen district . In 1996 he became deputy chairman of the FDP in the Viersen district and a member of the district executive committee of the FDP Niederrhein. Brockes has been a member of the Liberal State Board since 1998. In 2000 he took over the chairmanship of the district association and moved into the state parliament via the state list . During the 13th legislative period he was spokesman in the Committee for European and One World Policy; he was also a member of the Transport Committee until 2010.

In the 14th legislative period Brockes was the spokesman for the FDP parliamentary group for economic policy , he was also deputy chairman of the committee for economy, medium-sized companies and energy including mine safety. He is a full member of the Construction and Transport Committee . From December 2009 to 2012 Brockes was deputy chairman of his parliamentary group. In the state elections in 2010 , he won another state mandate via the state list.

In the 15th legislative period Brockes belonged as one of two representatives of North Rhine-Westphalia said in Brussels meeting participants Committee of the Regions of the European Union. Also in the state elections on May 13, 2012 and May 14, 2017 , Brockes again entered the state parliament. In all five state elections in which Brockes was a candidate, he was elected from the state list and also ran in the Viersen II state constituency , but had to admit defeat to the CDU candidate.

In the municipal elections in 2014 Brockes ran as mayor candidate for the municipality of Brüggen and reached the runoff election. In this he was subject to the applicant of the CDU.

Private life

Dietmar Brockes is married and has two children.

Since 1987 he has been a member of the St. Johannes Brotherhood Bracht and captain of the Prussian Grenadiers.

He is a member of Borussia Mönchengladbach and TSF Bracht.
