Dietmar Krug

Dietmar Krug (born September 9, 1963 in Linnich , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German writer and journalist .

Life

Dietmar Krug studied philosophy, history and German studies in Aachen and Vienna and received his doctorate with a thesis on Thomas Mann . He has lived in Vienna since 1988. After completing his studies, he worked as a freelance editor for various Viennese publishers (including Zsolnay and Böhlau ) and as an author for “ Die Presse ”, “ Der Standard ”, “ Salzburger Nachrichten ” and “ Literatures ”. From 1997 to 1998 he worked at the Austrian Academy of Sciences on a Karl Kraus research project. Then work for various journals in the fields of science, technology and logistics.

From 2004 to 2013 he was responsible for a series of new literary publications in the weekend supplement “Spectrum” of the Vienna daily newspaper “Die Presse”.

In 2009, together with August Staudenmayer, he published two plays for the Berlin publishing house Edition Karo (“In the waiting room / The next one, please”). From February 2010 to March 2014 he wrote the weekly column “These Germans” in the “Presse am Sonntag”; a selection of the columns appeared in book form in 2014.

His debut novel “More Freedom” was published in 2013, followed by the novels “Rissspuren” (2015) and “The Confusion” (2018).

He is currently working as an essayist for various media. In spring 2020, his fourth novel, “Von der Buntheit der Krow”, was published.
