Dietmar Sous (born January 30, 1954 in Stolberg (Rhld.) ) Is a German writer .

Life

Dietmar Sous grew up as the son of a housewife and a quarry worker in Breinigerberg (now part of Stolberg). In the football season 1968/69 he was first goalkeeper of the youth team of FC Breinigerberg, but was transferred to midfield after a series of breakdowns. After graduating from high school in 1973, he worked in civil engineering and in factories. He then did community service as a nurse for 16 months.

Dietmar Sous's work was shaped, among other things, by pop music and jazz , films and also by his friendship with Win Braun , who founded the Vennakademie art gallery as a painter in Breinig , the meeting point of the scene between the Voreifel and Aachen. The first work Glasdreck , published in 1981 by Rotbuch Verlag Berlin, is probably a mixture of the biographies of Dietmar Sous, Win Braun and John Lennon . The hero of the story is Brunno Mölldärs; Whipping boy, Beatles fan and proletarian 68er. The book was also presented and praised in the magazine Der Spiegel and in the ZDF culture program aspekte . Sous wrote a script of the same name for the filmmaker B. Stampfer. However, it was not made into a film due to a lack of funding.

For his book B-Film , Dietmar Sous was awarded the promotion prize of the city of Aachen in 1985. He also received a grant from the German Literature Fund and a literary grant from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Sous wrote reviews, mainly for the Berlin weekly newspaper Friday as well as numerous stories for the Sunday magazine of the WDR .

The old friendship with Win Braun didn't rust; he painted the cover picture for the book of stories Der Himmel der Liebe (1996), while fellow Vennakademie Hacki Ritzerfeld contributed wild drawings. The novel Abschied vom Mittelstürmer was published in 1997 as a hardcover by Rotbuch, and in 1999 as a paperback by Fischer-Taschenbuch-Verlag , Frankfurt. After Peter Henning Sous had named the "Rhenish Nick Hornby" in a morning meeting of a Rock´n´Roll consultant (2004), the critic Klaus Hübner countered : Music and football are two of Dietmar Sous' favorite topics. Still, luckily, he's not just the German Nick Hornby. Sous (...) has found his very own language. Very laconic, very sharp and very entertaining .
