Dietrich Alexander

Dietrich Alexander (born September 28, 1934 in Breslau ; † July 26, 1999 in Mallersdorf-Pfaffenberg ) was a German Marxist-Leninist philosopher .

Life

After attending secondary school in Greiz, Dietrich Alexander studied in Jena from 1953 to 1959 . Joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) as a student , he was one of the protagonists of the SED campaign against his fellow student Dietrich Grille in 1958, which resulted in his flight from the GDR to the Federal Republic. Alexander's focus was on dialectical materialism , historical materialism , the history of philosophy , political economy , logic and physiology . In 1964 he was editor for "Modern Science and Atheism". In 1965 he was awarded the degree of doctor for his scientific work with the title “Modern Physiology and Catholic Faith in the Soul”, which was rated “ magna cum laude ”. Together with Erhard Lange and others he wrote the book "Hegel and We" in 1970. In 1979 a monograph on the conceptual writing by Gottlob Frege was published as part of the Jena Frege Conference . The editor is Dietrich Alexander. In 1982 he completed his habilitation with the thesis "Marxism and Psychoanalysis". He was a full professor at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and from 1982 to 1990 director of the Marxist-Leninist Philosophy Section .

After German reunification , Dietrich Alexander lived in Landshut .
