Dietrich Andreas

Dietrich Andreas (* 1943 in Königsberg i. Pr. ) Is a German diplomat . From 2005 to August 2008 he was ambassador at the German embassy in Rangoon , Myanmar .

Life

Dietrich Andreas studied law and economics in Göttingen and Berlin .

In 1972 Dietrich Andreas joined the Foreign Office . His first post abroad led him to the Permanent Representation of Germany to the European Communities in Brussels until 1973 . He then worked for a short time at the embassies in Berne and Athens before moving to the embassy in Belgrade for three years in 1974 . In 1977/78 he was a member of the German delegation at the first follow-up meeting of the CSCE in Belgrade. He then became permanent representative and consul at the Consulate General in what is now Chennai . In 1985 he became head of the Economic Department at the Embassy in Nigeria's Lagos . In 1991 he was entrusted with the management of the Consulate General in Zagreb . From 1992 to 1995 he was the permanent representative of the ambassador to Thailand and head of the economic department of the embassy there. In 1995 he took over the leadership of the German delegation at the European Monitoring Mission ECMM in the Balkans . He then became a member of the OSCE Mission for Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo . In 1998 he was appointed Development Policy Officer and Head of the Department for Development Policy Principles at the Foreign Office. From 2001 to 2005 he worked as ambassador in Dhaka before he was sent as ambassador to Rangoon in August 2005.
