Dietrich Nitzsche (born January 21, 1934 in Bergen / Vogtl ; † December 2, 2018 in Dresden ) was a German sculptor who is counted among constructivism .

Life

After training as a craftsman from 1948 to 1951, Nitzsche studied sculpture from 1952 to 1957 at the Dresden University of Fine Arts (HfBK) with Walter Arnold , Hans Steger and Gerd Jaeger . From 1957 to 1959 he worked as a freelancer. From 1959 he worked in the Dresden DEFA studio for animated films as a designer with artistic work for animation films. Experimental artistic works and first works in public space were also created. Around 1979 I developed my own artistic path. In 1980, Nitzsche received a teaching position at the HfBK Dresden, evening school department, and in 1981 became an assistant for sculpture. He had his first major solo exhibition in 1989 in the HfBK gallery .

In 1992 he was appointed professor of sculpture at the HfBK Dresden and was entrusted with leading a basic class. In addition, he continued his free artistic work, in 1994 he also dealt with portfolios and drawings. For reasons of age, he ended his artistic teaching activity in 1999 and continued his free artistic work, taking care of exhibitions and taking part in commissions and competitions. Nitzsche lived in Dresden until his death .

Works by Nitzsche can be found in museums and collections, in public spaces and in private ownership in Germany and abroad. Study trips took him to the following places:

Honors

In 1990 Nitzsche received the Martin Andersen Nexö Art Prize from the city of Dresden.
