Robert "Rocky" Bernard Eugene Jr. (* 19th April 1979 in Baytown , Texas ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the defensive tackles . He played for the New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks in the National Football League (NFL). With the Giants he won the Super Bowl XLVI .

Profile career

Seattle Seahawks

Bernard was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2002 NFL Draft in the fifth round. He previously played college football for Texas A&M University . Bernard was mostly used as a substitute for the first three seasons. In the regular season 2005 he was used from the beginning as a defensive tackle , where he managed 8.5 sacks . In the NFC Championship Game against the Carolina Panthers , he made two more sacks. Bernard achieved 42 tackles in the 2005 season.

On August 30, 2008, the NFL suspended Bernard from the Seahawks' first game for breaking NFL rules. He was arrested in April 2008 for domestic violence for punching his ex-girlfriend in the face with his fist. He lost $ 235,000 from his salary due to the suspension .

New York Giants

On February 28, 2009, Bernard signed a four-year $ 16 million deal with the New York Giants . Under that contract, he was guaranteed $ 6.9 million, plus a $ 5 million signing bonus and a base salary for the first season.

Bernard was released on July 28, 2011. On August 4, 2011, he again signed with the Giants and won the Super Bowl XLVI with them this season .
