Tyler Sash (born May 27, 1988 in Oskaloosa , Iowa , † September 8, 2015 in the same place) was an American American football player in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the New York Giants in the position of safety .

college

Sash played for the University of Iowa football team , in the position of safety. He holds the team record for interception return yards with 392.

NFL

On January 13, 2011, Sash announced that he would participate in the 2011 NFL Draft . He was selected in the sixth round by the New York Giants . In the 2011 season he won the Super Bowl XLVI with these . In July 2012, he was banned from the NFL for four games after being convicted of using banned substances. Sash said he was legally prescribed the substances to manage public speaking anxiety. He was released from the Giants on August 31, 2013.

Personal

On May 10, 2014, Sash was arrested for public drunkenness and disturbing the peace.

On September 8, 2015, Sash was found dead at his home in Oskaloosa, Iowa. The autopsy revealed that he died from an accidental overdose of a pain reliever. A post-mortem autopsy of his brain revealed that he had chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). He had suffered at least 5 concussions during his career.
