Mitch Petrus (born May 11, 1987 in Carlisle Township , Arkansas , † July 18, 2019 in Little Rock , Arkansas) was an American football player in the position of guard . He played for the New York Giants , the New England Patriots and the Tennessee Titans in the National Football League (NFL). Petrus was selected by the Giants in the 5th round of the 2010 NFL Draft and won the Super Bowl XLVI with them .
college
Petrus started out at the University of Arkansas as a walk-on fullback . He blocked for the tandem Darren McFadden and Felix Jones , who both topped the 1,000- yard mark in 2007 . For his achievements in 2007 he was elected to the All-SEC-Second Team. In 2009, Petrus was elected to the All-SEC team by the SEC coaches. Shortly thereafter, Petrus completed his studies in agricultural economics . At the NFL Combine 2010, Petrus managed 45 repetitions of the 102 kg bench press , making it 2nd overall.

New York Giants
Petrus was selected 147th in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft . In his second season with the Giants, he made it into the Super Bowl XLVI , which they won 21:17 against the New England Patriots . On September 2, 2012, Peter was released; the next day, however, he was committed again by the Giants. He was released again on November 3, 2012.
New England Patriots
On November 13, 2012, the New England Patriots signed him. He was released on December 3 of the same year.
Tennessee Titans
On December 6, 2012, he was inducted into the Tennessee Titans . Here he played two games. He was released on March 12, 2013.
Private
Petrus lived in Lonoke and was the bass player in the band "Vikings of the North Atlantic".
He died as a result of heat stroke .
